What is the Mattress Recycling Fee?Updated a day ago

If your order is being delivered to California, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Oregon, you may notice a Mattress Recycling Fee added at checkout. This is a state-imposed fee required by law, not an additional charge created by Essentia.

These fees support state mattress recycling programs that help keep used mattresses out of landfills and recover materials for reuse. Essentia is required to collect the applicable fee on eligible mattress and foundation purchases and remits the full amount collected to the applicable state recycling program. Essentia does not retain any portion of this fee.

What are the Mattress Recycling Fees?

• California: $18 per mattress and foundation

• Connecticut: $16 per mattress and foundation

• Rhode Island: $22.50 per mattress and foundation

• Oregon: $22.50 per mattress and foundation

The fee amount is determined by the applicable state and is separate from the price of your Essentia products.

At Essentia, we believe in making thoughtful choices about the materials we bring into our homes. We support recycling initiatives that encourage responsible management of mattresses at the end of their useful life.

Did you know that our products are sourced from the earth and return to it after they’re used? Yup, all Essentia mattresses are also biodegradable when fully exposed to the elements – wind, rain, sun – consistently over a three-year period. We recognize that most mattresses aren’t like this, which is why we think the Mattress Recycling Council’s initiative is great.
